I know this probably sounds retarded, but what kind of underwear should I be wearing at indoc? Right now I wear boxers, but don't have any humidity and when I workout I change out of them right afterwards. Do boxers chafe and stuff after all day/running? Thighty-whities seem to ride up more, but might be better after a long time. I know it's retarded and all about personal preference (don't give me any BS answer like "Wear a thong!"), just curious what you guys found to be the best choice. Thanks.

Coney, I would wear compression shorts. The ones made by Under Armour I think are the best. check out their site. www.underarmour.com. Haven't been through indoc, but I think those will help. sgs

Some guys go commando in just their blue shorts, some wear their speedo all day, and some wear the tighty whities. I would stay away from the boxers though because the blue shorts provide the same thing and the boxers would show underneath them. (The blue shorts are very small).

They are like the old school running shorts. They'll give you two pair but I would bring extras because they get nasty quick and you probably won't want to do laundry right away(they also sell them at the shoppette by the dorm.

I think the blue shorts you are refering to are what we called in the Marines "silkies", they are 100% nylon with same material lining and an elastic waist band. They are usually made by SOFFEE and cost B/W $6-7.00 at the PX. No operator (Recon, PJ/CCT, SF,SEAL) I ever met wore underwear with them (although some may) You can get them in blue, black and green depending on the service branch. I myself have learned that underwear is a pain in the *** , literally. When you are wet and dirty/sandy, underwear chafes and causes rash. Go commando( we called it freeballin') 24/7- in PT gear,BDU and civvies. The only draw back is after a long run or ruck the tip of you privates might suffer something like raw nipple syndrome 'til you get used to it.
