I thought the Special Ops went to the polymer 45 instead of the old beretta 9mm. I thought I read that in a recent issue of Combat handguns. Anyone know if there is any validity to the article? I knew the site a says 9mm.

Just curious, like it matters 9mm will put hole in someone you just the same.

I pretty sure TE is sick of 9mm vs. 45 discussions on this site (and there have been a few) but some of the STS armories do have the HK Mark 23s. When I went to the firing range with the 321st, everybody was still banging away with the Berettas. I would imagine that, like alot of things, weapon choice would be dictated by mission requirements and personal preference.

Damn, I'm old! I can remember the .38 being old and the 9mm being new. A weapon is only as good as the operator. Of course I always preferred the M79.

Is an M79 a sidearm? I think of it more as an underarm not to be confused with a shortarm.

Anyway I like the 45. Its hell to hump with it, but it really does a great job with one round. Even if you only hit them in the little finger, you'll at least knock 'em down.
