As I was reading the article about the Green Berets and CW getting awards, I noticed on the picture that the green beret had one of his badges encircled with a white marker of some sort. I also noticed it when I was watching Band of Brothers, (they encircled their jump wings with white marker too) Does anyone know what this stands for? Just curious

It is a cloth oval, the colors are the same as the beret flash. You wear it to show that you are on active jump status.
