First off, I can't begin to express the respect and thanks I feel for what you guys do on a daily basis. You guys are warriors. I'm working on some creative writing and wanted to have a fictional character be a CCT, I hope I can get your blessings on this. I feel like other SOF get more mainstream recognition, and that many people don't understand what Combat Controllers truly do. To me, you guys have the most crucial job on the battlefield, considering the importance of air power.

If I could get some perspective on the feelings of controlling an AC130 overhead while on operations, from what I understand you're the only ones who can do so. Do you decide the type of ordnance used by it? Or is that more the air crews choice? I have so many questions and would enjoy further correspondence with any CCT's out there, active or retired. I don't want to violate any OPSEC parameters or give too much away in terms of tactics, so if this is out of line please delete immediately, and forgive my curiosity.
Thanks.

I'll ask of the berserks, you tasters of blood,
Those intrepid heroes, how are they treated,
Those who wade out into battle?
Wolf-skinned they are called. In battle
They bear bloody shields.
Red with blood are their spears when they come to fight.
They form a closed group.
The prince in his wisdom puts trust in such men
Who hack through enemy shields.
