I'm a new member. I have surfed the site a bit when I was looking for which job I wanted to pursue in the Air Force(2 years ago). I chose ALO/13L because it was brand new and I thought it would be a good opportunity to get in during its infancy. As the opportunity for 13Ls to go SOF and not just conventional shrink (see Air Force times article to be published in coming weeks), Im looking to crosstrain. The logical choice would be to shoot for STO because of similar skillsets learned while in the TACP. But, my question is about CRO and the likelihood of being accepted when applying for a gaurd unit. Given that the mission is much different, how much would prior service and JTAC certification weigh in if/when I apply?

pbonn33,
Each individual Guard Unit will have a different answer to that question. It depends on what they perceive as their need at that time and also what else they feel you bring to the table. Operational JTAC experience as an ALO would certainly be a plus but in and of itself would not be the determining factor.

Guard MC,
Thank you for the quick response. Do you have good contact info for the NY Gaurd unit?
