I have just received a date to leave for basic, May 22nd, with CCT slot. I thought that I would leave for basic on a Friday but May 22nd is a Tuesday so I am not positive what group I will be in. It would be nice to know someone that will be in basic with me. Let me know if you will be there the same time.

My PAST test scores from Aug '11 were as followed:
10:37 (10 laps in meter pool)
8:32 (.75mi track)
13 pull-ups
51 sit-ups
51 push-ups

My PAST test scores from Dec '11 were as followed:
9:26 (11 laps in yard pool)
8:55 (on 400m outdoor track)
15 pull-ups
68 sit-ups
62 push-ups.

All basic training starts on Tuesday. PAST times look good. Try an AFSOC stand-eval if u have fins

You for the reply. Yes, I do have fins. Is there a document on here that has the time constraints for that PT test? I have not come across it yet.

They change throughout the pipeline but the order is pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, 3 mile run, and 1500m fin. You want your 3 mile time somewhere near 20:00 (I believe CCS grad standard is 21:00) and your fin to be in lower 30's.

The AFSOC Stan/Eval (Standardizations and Evaluations) is simply the CCT/STO Operator PT test required every 18 months to remain qualified/combat ready.

http://www.e-publishing.af.mil/shared/media/epubs/AFI13-219V2.pdf

CCS standards for course graduation:

Push-ups (64)
Sit-ups (75)
Pull-ups or Chin-ups (11)
3-mile run in 22 minutes 30 seconds
1500 meter swim with fins in 32 minutes 30 seconds
rucksack march 15 miles in 5 hours
Successfully complete (unaided) 90% of the obstacles on the CCT Obstacle course.

I have a BMT April 17th date. But im thinking we may have the same selection date. There was a post on here earlier for the selection dates for this year and the one that was closest to my grad date was in August.

Here is a link to the dates for CCSC
http://www.specialtactics.com/ubbthreads....html#Post56423

It does look like you are correct. If you start basic April 17th, takes about 8 weeks, there is no way you could make the 07May2012 slot so you would have to wait until the next class which is 06Aug2012. I think it would be nice to have a period of time after basic and before CCSC to worry solely on physical fitness and metal preparation. Looks like you lucked out there. Any idea why they do not have any CCSC dates in June or July of 2012 like they did in 2011?

Hilltopper,

I also leave for BMT May 22nd. Looks like we'll be in the same Selection Course. Can't wait! PM and let me know what you've been doing to prepare, it would be nice to compare notes with other people striving for the same goal.

PAST from approximately 2 months ago:
Underwaters: Pass
11:10(5 laps in a 50m pool)
9:05(400m track)
14 pull-ups
52 sit-ups
60 push-ups

I take another PAST this Friday, I know my scores will improve, especially my swim. I'll post my score when I'm finished.

Hope to hear from you Hilltopper,
Jovanny

Hilltopper,

My scores from this Friday's PAST test:

UW: pass
9:41: 500m swim
8:31: 1.5mi run
20 pull-ups
65 sit-ups
71 push-ups

Unfortunately the test wasn't "official," I was just testing with a few other guys, my recruiter just wanted to make sure I was staying on top of my training. Luckily there was another guy there who can run, he definitely pushed me on the 1.5mile.

So if you graduate basic and have a month or two until the selection course starts, does the Air Force just send you home for the time being or do they keep you in San Antonio? Sending you home seems like a waste of money.

The most you'll likely have to wait is 2 weeks (look at the CCSC dates)...you'll be in casual status and PT and do other assigned duties until CCSC starts.

Hey TE, On the CCS Course graduation standard how long of a break do you get between the pull up's and three mile run and how much time off between the 3 mile run and the 1500m fin? I was looking to do some practice runs of the test myself before I leave and I wanted to know how long I should rest between each event.

Hey fellas, I also ship for a CCT slot on May 22nd. I think I got the date on February 3rd this year, so four months and a half wait time. My first PAST I took in November of last year and I got near minimum everything.
UW: pass
swim: 9:52
Run: 9:27
Pull Ups: 10
Sit Ups: 58
Push Ups: 82

I have to take my final PAST first week of May, but I took one about a week ago and I got:
UW: pass
swim: 6:03
Run: 10:04
Pull Ups: 17
Sit Ups: 65
Push Ups: 75

No excuses, but I got shin splints recently, definitely taking care of my calves with stretches, ice tub bathes, NSAIDs, and elliptical/biking so no-impact on them. After looking at the CCT Selection Course dates TE posted, looks like we get 2 weeks after basic to prep up and refuel mentally. Seems awesome. I live close to San Francisco, California, I'll definitely be PMing you fellas my details. Good luck to you guys.

Thanks for all of the PMs. I am trying to keep everyones names straight. Let me know in PM if you want my number to call or text. 27 days left and I know everyone is getting antsy, as am I. If you have not met anyone yet who will be in basic with us, let me know and I can get you in contact with a few.

Took my EAD a few days ago and it turned out as followed:
UW: pass
500m: 9:42
1.5mi: 9:21
Pull: 14
Sit: 68
Push: 62

I had what felt like steel butterflies in my stomach the whole exam. I have never not passed a test having tested almost a dozen times but my recruiter put extra pressure on me to hit the ironman standard. After the swim I knew I obviously couldn't make it. With the butterflies lasting through the whole exam I feel safe to say that even on a bad day I can exceed the minimum standards. My recruiter has tried to get me to take the test again but I opted not to worry about testing again and concentrate on training and preparing for basic. From what I understand, recruiters get perks for their recruits hitting ironman. He has told me that the instructors would see that I achieved this standard and would look at me in a different light. I feel that this is only partially true, yes I have better scores so I would look more prepared but I do not think an instructor is looking for those certain numbers. Does anyone know what who or if anyone sees our scores and if they just simply see it as pass or fail?

Has anyone else taken their EAD PAST? Nerves get to you? Even after being a runner for 10 years with multiple state, regional and conference meets, this was the most nervous I have ever been before a test even thought it was probably the best prepared I have been for a race/test.

Hope to see you soon and remember to enjoy these next few weeks because after this I feel we will be embarking on a long journey of pain and suffering but one that will reward us with dream that few can imagine and even fewer will experience.

Hilltopper and all those who are shipping out with us,

I also just took my EAD, my results were:

UW: Pass
500m: 9:23
1.5mile: 8:13
15 pull-ups
78 sit-ups
70 push-ups

I was certainly very nervous since this was my first time testing with an actual Combat Controller, but he was somewhat laid back with us. He was strict on form and times, but was also very encouraging, periodically 'motivating' with very well-chosen words.

There was mention here and there about hitting Ironman standards, from both my recruiter and the test proctor, but as far as I could tell it was mainly a preparation thing. He went over our scores one by one, telling us where we should improve, how to go about it, etc....

One thing he was very adamant about, however, was to not get complacent. He kept stressing to us keep driving on and keep working hard, staying on our routine. Too many guys get comfortable and pay the price for it.

So to all the men reading this that will be with us or in another class, whether it be PJ, CCT, etc., suffering in silence, we are not done yet. Nowhere close. We have everything left to prove, so don't let up and let's keep improving everything about ourselves.

Wish you all the best of luck,
Jovanny Arredondo
