Right now my gf is living in germany attending school, we have been away from each other for quite some time (more than a year) but plan to get married. The pipeline fot CCT is going to keep us away from each other even longer, so i spoke to a chat representative on the air force website and he told me that in longer tech schools such as CCT that the commander can approve of your spouse living with you off base, and you can get housing allowance. i know marriage has been a topic on here and i have asked questions myself but i wanted to know if there are any cases of this being approved or if this is even true? if any one can give me an answer that would be greatly appreciated.

This is the CCT Pipeline:

- Basic Training; Lackland AFB, TX (8.5 weeks)
- Combat Control Orientation Course (CCOC): Lackland AFB, TX (2 weeks)
- Air Traffic Control Course: Keesler AFB MS (72 training days/14.4 weeks)
- Basic Army Airborne School: Ft. Benning GA (15 training days/3 weeks)
- Basic Survival: Fairchild AFB WA (17 days/2.5 weeks)
- Combat Control Apprentice Course: Pope AFB NC (61 training days/12.2 weeks)
- Advanced Skills Training (AST), Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) 3-phases (11-12 months)

All CCT Apprentice Course graduates move PCS to Hurlburt Fld, FL. For AST. Dependants (wives/children) are allowed to move, but not prior to graduating Combat Control School.

There is certainly not enough time to PCS you to any school before AST...that is where you will be joined by your wife and obviously she will go to your first assignment after AST and beyond.

So, you will be seperated from the time you enter basic training until you graduate combat control school and reunite at AST...roughly 300 days.

I asked this same question when I came in. The key number for a spouse to be able to be with you is 20+ weeks at one location for any AFSC.

Pushed through. If you want something bad enough, everything else can wait.

I am by no means doctor Phil. That being said.

You will not live anywhere but with your team through the pipeline and you will not have much time between scheduled events to travel off base to your wife's residency. It's easier for her to fly down, visit, then go home. Trust me, you will have a lot on your plate.

Where your wife lives is up to you, her, and your financial situation. Your BAH is based off of where your wife lives btw. If you can't stand to be away from her for <1yr of training how are you going to commit an enlistment of TDYs and deployments.

I'll say it again. This is good, friendly advise. Push through. If you want something bad enough, everything else can wait.

You "could" pay for a hotel or an economy suite but I doubt you'd find a short-term lease for a house involving weeks...it would have to be furnished also.

It would also result in distractions that you would have to manage and a significant financial burden (hotel, flights, meals, rental cars, etc.)

Your best bet would be to have her visit at different times based on your schedule...Keesler and Pope would be the best locations for visits but they are long days and you'll be away from base at CCS for quite a while at a couple points in training.

I have a similar situation, but Ill skip my sob story and cut to the chase. Im going SOWT and I just wanted to verify that family can visit during tech school? So pretty much just on the weekends right?
