I know that CROs and STOs have to take the same PT test, but aside from the actual tests, what are the differences in physical requirements between STO and CRO (such as during phase II and Indoc)?

Do CROs do a lot more swimming and STOs do a lot more land PT? I am going to be honest, I don't like swimming very much. Would a person wanting to be a STO have to train as much swimming as someone wanting to be a CRO?

This may be a dumb question, but which one proves to be harder physically, STO or CRO?

Any info would be great. Thanks so much.

JVA,
The two selection programs are remarkably similar. As one of the Original CROs told me (he retired as an O-6 so I think he knows what he's talking about), CRO Selection is based on STO Selection and has just been refined over the years to select the right CRO Candidate. Very little difference exists between CRO and STO Phase II required water confidence and swimming.
Look at what the two jobs are about and what they do as you try to determine which to pursue.
