The STO application and selection package has been updated:

The package has been significantly updated.

Anyone else already send in your package for Phase I prior to the change? I'm waiting to hear back from the Project Officer stating if I need to reaccomplish my package.

As far as the Phase I package goes it looks like as if only the cover page and PT Eval has changed, also the address. Is there anything else of significance that I am missing? Anthony, I wonder if they will make you change it to the new standard...Maybe you won't have to.

Ant, et.al,

I believe the STO project officer will confirm that you do not have to send in another application...the new package is current and effective as of 1 Jun 05.

Of course, you'll take the new PAST at phase II...

I was looking at it from a standardization point of view. The folder has been replaced with a 1" binder and information is to be placed in document protectors.

Works the same for that also.

Are the document protectors for each individual page? I have 100+ pages of medical records alone.

Some guys at my phase 2 actually had there med records in a different folder b/c they were about 4 inches thick. If you're really worried about it make a call/e-mail and ask... I know that's what people have done in the past.

Thanks, I talked to a Lieutenant from Hurlburt today asking him about the new application procedure. I asked him about the protectors and binder and he said us 1 July guys can follow the new standard but we didn't have to. He said it wouldn't look poorly on my part if I just did the way I had it. He said the new application procedures would be mainly for those guys applying in the future (post 1 July 05).

4" thick med records?? Wow...to me, that would be a disqual right then and there...21 years as a PJ and mine are maybe 1" thick...anyone predisposed to injury and disease had best not apply...

I'm not trying to get off topic but his med records were seriously huge... he was an O-3 in the Navy and got busted up in BUD's... when I met him at phase 2 I was seriously questioning how the heck he got there b/c he said he had "broken his back."... no joke, maybe I stepped in the B.S.

Out of morbid curiosity (and I feel like a little bit of a fattie coming in on the old, easier standards) I was wondering why the change of standards for the STO PT test? Was it to make an overmanned careerfield harder to get into? Were there too many people getting in that weren't in good enough shape? Thanks guys.

Cadre at the last officer selection felt that the old standards were too low for potential STOs. People will still go above the minimums, but at least those who just pass certain events will still be putting up ok scores.

Didn't get a reply from the STTS so I'll reopen this thread. For Phase I STO packages do the medical records need to be separated by page protectors and can they be placed in a separate binder?

Thanks TE. Medical records CAN be included in another binder with protective sheets. (STO Phase I)
