Are they authorized to wear with the ABU? That was one of the pairs I was looking at. They are pretty steep in price. Are they heavy? Looks like they could be. How is running in them? What about fit...Do they run pretty close in size to a normal combat boot, as I have to order off the internet. Thanks for the info.

I've owned a pair of these for about 4 months now and they are hands-down the best boots I've ever had.
They are very light (around 2-3lbs) and easy to run or ruck in. They're about as close to wearing running shoes as you are going to get with a standard boot and S2Vs are authorized with ABUs. For size, mine were right in line with my other boots and running shoes.
Do a search on google and you can find a few places with reduced prices around 25-30%.

Other than the Rocky's are there other ABU approved boots with drainage holes that anyone knows about? Just looking for something that will drain water rather than hold it after some of the wetter evolutions. Of the manufacturers I can think of none specify on their websites, and google searches turn up nothing useful.

Danner desert TFX, Blackhawk Tactical Warrior Wear Desert Ops Boots, Oakley’s, Rocky sv2. Majority of folks at INDOC wore Oakley’s, including some of the cadre. A lot of CCT guys were wearing Rocky's. All these are great boots, I have worn the Blackhawk, rocky and Danner. I prefer the Danner.

It has been some time since anyone has aked about boots excepted at BMT and CCT selections, I have read the AFI 36-2903, Dress and Personal Appearance, which states "With or without safety toe; must have a plain rounded toe or rounded capped toe with or without perforated seam; zipper or elastic inserts are optional; no designs. High gloss or patent finish optional." It would seem that this standard is broad. I'm leaving for BMT NOV 16, there had been discussion on the formas that the ABU= Tan colred boots will be phased out by then, and BDU uniform will be back= black boots. I would like to purchase off market boots before basic and have them broke in by BMT and for selections. Please advise on the exceptable color, brand and style for the future date? And advise if these boots will be acceptable for both training schools? Thank you for your response!!

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy boots for BMT. they will issue them to you. Dont worry about the regs for those 8 weeks. You will wear what they tell you to and how.
Now, if you want to buy a pair for selections, that is fine. You can either wear them on the plane down here or have family bring them. If you wear them down here, try to be careful. bringing unwanted attention to yourself because you have cool boots might not be good. Not just talking about extra PT either..............

I would go with the Rocky s2v because that is what you are going to use in the pipeline. The boots will be part of your initial issue thats what you will be required to wear. From what I was told by a graduate who just graduated in June 2010 this is not optional. So start using them now to get use them andthey will be broke in. You can also save the money make it threw 2 weeks at selection then get them issued to you.

You do not get Rocky S2v issued to you as initial or after selection. I dont know who told you that but they were b/sing you. Alot of guys buy these boots because they are great all around boots but for the pipeline you can wear whatever brand of boots that you want. I have a pair of s2v and they worked great through selection. Tiny, BDU's are not coming back, BDU uniforms and tan boots are phased out for fiscal year 2011 which is october 2010 for military. ABU's is the air force uniform for good. Green boots would be the best to buy for yourself now, any other color you buy may not be authorized for wear by time you start class.

Sorry for misleading, as i said I was told so didnt know for sure. Go with DaR said get whats comfortable for you and he is right about the tan being phased out while in garrison(stateside) so make sure they a the green ones, which ever ones you choose.

I just bought some Belleville TR boots, and I love them. They fit way better than the Rockys.
