I do apologize for such a mundane topic however it is a question needing answering. I work as a K9 police officer and now perusing my dreams as many in the spec ops community. Which brings me straight to the question: Is it and/or when would it be possible to live on or off base in order to get my dog back with me? Thank you for your time, and any info will help. God Bless!

I'm a dog owner myself (Not K-9), I'm sure someone will get around to answer your exact question... but from what I've collected once you PCS after the majority of the pipe line (Kirtland for PJ, Hurlburt for CCT) you should be able to get housing and then have your dog (not so sure if you're single).

I know it to be a fact for the housing if you're MARRIED, but I'm not sure if you can while single, just throwing out there what I know so far.. The only thing I don't look forward to in the training is not being around my pups for so long, but at least my wife will look after them!

Hope that helped, if not, I hope you find your answer!

You get to live off base at STTS in Hurlburt Field if you are CCT or at Kirtland AFB if a PJ. The usual policy is that you live in Team Dorms if you are single/unaccompanied and off base if you are married. You may be able to work out a deal with Security Forces on base to board your dog there (doubtful) or just board at a local kennel. In any case, I wouldn't move the dog until you are at Hurlburt Field or Kirtland AFB as you will move way too often before that.
