Ok this may have to be answered by a career counselor but i thought i would give it a shot. Here's my situation...Currently active duty in a career field with an equal bonus to pararescue, which bonus if i enter the pipeline will i receive and when? Also if i choose to go the reserve route and apply to a unit do they receive re-up bonuses? Not that the cash is everything but along with my selfish career move decision i would like to be able to set my family up for success! Thanks for any help in advance! Cheers.

It's not a complex question; the simple answer is probably not one you want to hear, since you are stating money is a significant motivator.

SRB is an active duty program, ending your active duty status prior to ETS to switch to fulfilling remainder of the enlistment in a reserve component impacts the SRB eligibility and reason it was given. This means any SRB left to be paid will not be paid and SRB paid is strongly likely to be collected back as a debt to the US government by the Air Force.

Being released from active duty for enlistment in an Air Force Reserve component (Palace Chase or other similar release to fulfill a current active duty obligated term of service) is not a reenlistment into Reserve component.

Pretty difficult to do a reenlist in the Reserve Component holding a Bonus AFSC without already being a person who holds the PJ AFSC and being assigned to an AF Reserve unit performing duties of the PJ AFSC. The intent of the AF Reserve retraining bonus is to provide an incentive to those members already assigned to a unit in a non-bonus AFSC to retrain and later reenlist into a bonus AFSC at their current unit of assignment locale, that is, no change in servicing Military Personnel Flight (MPF) identification (ID).

Read AFI 36-2606, AFI 36-2626 and AFI 36-2638.

Thanks for the response Yukon. I wont be able to palace chase as my afsc is chronic as well so that doesnt really affect my decision. I guess i i was just wondering if the guard had a bonus and more or less if i would even get a bonus of any sort if i crosstrained on the AD side. But thanks for the references i'll start digging!

The Air Guard bonus incentives are strongly state funded, but a eligibility for a reenlistment bonus would again require enlisted in the guard, holding the bonus AFSC, assigned to a unit having the bonus AFSC on its unit manning documents and performing the duties of the bonus AFSC.

For Air Guard you would have to seek your answer from each unit as each PJ/CCT Air Guard unit/team is in a different state.

The ANG bonuses are only for Traditional Guardsmen, not their full time personnel. None of the ANG Wings has a manning problem on the full time side so there is no need for a bonus. The Traditional Guardsmen bonuses are, as you would expect, a fraction of what the Active Duty bonuses are. The various ANG units have funded signing bonuses for enlisting as a Traditional Guardsmen in CCT or PJ that are about the same as Active Duty.

as far as staying active duty goes, the answer lies in 36-2626.

Since you're already stated that the bonuses are the same, then it doesn't matter which way you re-enlist. However, if they were different, until you attained your 3 level, you would only get the lesser bonus.
