I have been prepping for the PAST test and was going to take it this previous friday until i got a call from my recruiter on tuesday saying that all recruiting was on hold. he didnt know much about why but was having a meeting friday and would learn more about it. he said usually when this happens it excludes high schoolers, prior service, and special forces. I want to be (and will be, once i get enlisted) CCT! does anyone know anything about this recruitment hold? thanks a bunch!

Most likely due to the Air Force downsizing through Force Shaping and being more selective about how many people they are willing to recruit. Might have nothing to do with it...just a possibility.

The new recruiter signed up on the forum stated that recruiting is still going on for Battlefield Airmen.

Yes, the AF is lessening recruting efforts as more people are staying in than was projected (bad economy appears to be the most common reason) so we are in danger of going over our authorized End Strength.
Recruiting of undermanned and special interest career fields is supposed to continue. I think, but cannot confirm yet, that PJ, CCT and SOWT are unaffected by the new changes. I would say that the word should get to Recruiting Offices in the next couple of weeks.

ok, thanks guys. i actually talked to the recruiter today, he still didnt have much info other than it was maybe looking like 60 days at the least before he could process anyone, AT ALL. he had a couple of guys that were supposed to go for cct/pararescue that are now on hold as well. sad thing is that it makes sense. i just want to get in and control some combat, dang it. patience i guess

depending on how you look at it, it could be the best thing that could happen. It will only give you more time. Personally im happy about this extra 2 months or so that I will be waiting, its only going to help me succeed at indoc.
Best of luck
Wil

Unless you are in DEP you have no official in waiting status. The significance is the numbers of others waiting to get into DEP for a shot at a PJ/CTT GTEP enlistment contract increase as each day of the next two month passes as potential candidates are graduating high school May through July.

had some communication with my recruiter today, said he heard from a "pretty reliable source" that they would open back up in june. but he couldn't give any insight to how long it would be from then, or how many guys are infront of me. he said i need to be able to pass the PAST in my sleep (not a problem!), he recently had a PJ miss a semi-official PAST running portion by ten seconds and he is OUT!

The Air Force is still recruiting "regular" and Battlefield Airman. Each recruiter is limited to the number of applicants he can DEP in. It sounds like your recruiter cannot DEP anybody new in until Jun.

so it has been two months since my last post regarding...anybody heard anything about joining? got a call in to my recruiter but haven't heard back from him. starting to wonder what the real deal is here. i think that i am more than qualified for CCT, passed the PAST with flying colors (was only a practice for me, but official for some guys, and i had been at a wedding drinking alot on the weekend, and worked til midnight the day before). scored 83 on the practice asvab. what should i do?? is there anything, or just keep waiting?

my best advice to you on this matter is to just be patient. that's what I'm doing. I got told by my recruiter because I'm Prior Service that I have to wait until Oct 1. Then I got told by an Air Force advisor that PS Program prob., won't open back up until Nov. Then 1 day later was told be another advisor. They weren't even sure if PS Program was going to open at all in FY11. so with this type of thing. you have to be patient. AF not really sure exactly how strong they want their manning to be, well it would seem like to me. with that new Force Managenment thing hunting down people with high year tenure. those guys have to leave AF soon. so my guys thats what the wait is for. so for the time being we have to patient.

Paitence is the Fruit of the spirit!!
