sorry if this is out there but i have a question or two

I found this on the PJ Fact sheet
First Term Retrainees: 4-year enlistees can begin retraining application process at 24 months, 6-year enlistees at 36 months. Submit as an exception to policy.

does that mean if i enlist for 4 years after 2years i can re enlist for another 4 years and do a total of 6years? or would that mean i would have be in for 8 years? Or am i not understating this and this mean to retrain into another career field?

after re-reading and thinking about this im guessing its the 2nd but would still like clarification/ explanation of re-enlisting anyway. As in can you re-enlist before your enlistment is up, and what does that meen.

It just specifies when a 4 or 6 year enlistee, in another job, can retrain into Pararescue or other careerfield that allows exceptions to policy. Normally, you have to wait 3 or 5 years respectively to crosstrain into another careerfield, but PJ/CCT among a few others allows consideration of an exception to policy to retrain early. You may have to re-enlist to gain the required retainability depending on when you crosstrain but that will be explained at the time. It's a mute point if you come in GTEP PJ/CCT/SERE/SOWT/TACP.
