Last year around this time there was a special tactics briefing on Hurlburt and I think around the same time the year before. I didn't hear about it until last minute and luckily I was able to attend. Is there one scheduled for this month or next month?

I remember about a year ago as well there were some ST folks that came to Elmendorf administering the PAST and giving briefings also. Does anyone know if there is a chance they will be doing it again this year even though there is no overseas retraining options?

Air Force Special Operations Command Public Affairs

2/25/2010 - HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- The Air Force Special Operations Training Center is hosting a Physical Ability Stamina Test at 7:30 a.m. March 12 at the Special Tactics Training Squadron on Hurlburt Field, Fla., for applicants interested in joining the pararescue, combat control or special operations weather career fields.

Applicants will be evaluated on a 500-meter swim, 1.5-mile run, pull-ups, sit-ups and push-ups.

Individuals that pass the PAST will be given their certified score sheet for cross training. Those that don't pass will be offered mentorship in areas in which they need improvement.

Pararescuemen are trained paramedics who can locate and save injured personnel in any environment on the planet. They can defend their patients and themselves during combat or special operations missions.

Combat controllers are trained FAA air traffic controllers who deploy first into hostile or denied territory to survey and secure assault and landing zones. They can guide in military aircraft or direct precision attack from fighters and bombers.

Special operations weather team members are meteorologists who provide immediate and accurate weather information and forecasts deep behind enemy lines. They are proficient in a multitude of lightweight weather and communications equipment in addition to weapons.

The Special Tactics Training Squadron is across from Aderholt Fitness Center.

This is always an outstanding event and a great opportunity to meet some people from the career field.
