Basic Training for ST trainees

I heard, other day, that while in basic training anyone with a CCT, PJ, TACP, or SERE contract lived in the same barracks and get extra PT.
I'm just wondering if there is any truth to this or if it is just a rumor. Thanks

Similarly I was wondering if they allowed you anytime to swim if you had a GTEP in BMT. I imagine it being very hard to not be able to swim for the length of BMT and then day one of indoc being expected to complete the PAST with the same intensity as when it was originally taken.

I went through BMT in late '07 GTEP Pararescue and all of the TACP, Sere, PJ, and CCT trainees were flighted (3 flights actually: 2 for active and 1 for guard/reserve) together, but we only got extra PT a handful of time. That was also when basic was 6 weeks though. We didn't get anytime to swim during BMT, but be sure that if you are going PJ you will have PLENTY of pool time during indoc. Ha ha! tankrat "Never Quit"

I don't know the answer to DCP's question but to JMKeupp - I'm pretty sure that you will get to do a practice PAST while in basic. But either way swimming (at least for me) is not like running, if I didn't run for a few weeks my run times would get slower pretty fast. But I can go for a while without my swim times slowing down too much. I couldn't swim for two months and my swim time was only 10 seconds slower once I was able to get back into the pool. It was a little bit more difficult but I was still able to swim with the same intensity. If you can swim 500m in 10 min or less no problem, you should still be able to swim the minimum times even if you didn't swim for 6-8 weeks. And on top of that, people go through basic all the time before going to Indoc and they pass the PAST.

I have also been wondering about Basic Training with regards to Special Forces trainees as well. So there is a handful, if any extra PT. And no real swim besides the PAST. That was my first couple of questions. Secondly, what is it like mentally? Are they any tougher on SpecOps trainees than normal enlistees mentally? Is it any more of a headgame than normal Basic Training? Does our schedule look any different than a normal non-SpecOp flight? I guess a simple way of putting it would be, is there a sizable difference between SpecOps Basic Training and a normal job's Basic? Thanks, Mike

No. There could be a one in a million chance, but don't expect to be treated any different. Take advantage of what chances you get to PT on your own or with another Spec Ops candidate.
Special forces= Army Special Operations/Tactics(hence the website)= Air Force
I hope this post helped, if it didn't I hope you get your answer.. Best of luck in your training.
