5 Weeks ago the doctor told me i had inflammed hamstrings from working out too much (swimming then immediatly running). I had to stop running for these last five weeks.

My schedule was 4 1 6 2.

I was going to start with 2 2 2 2. just to see how i fall, and then working back up (and beyond, as i was about to increase all my distances by a mile). Does anyone have an imput on this?

Did they give you a rehab/strength program? Lunges, lunges with a twist, air squats, dumbbell stiff-legged deadlifts, lateral lunges etc?

4+1+6+2 = 13miles. That's not a lot of weekly mileage at all and deductive reasoning would point to inflexibility or lack of strength as the cause as opposed to over training.

All they told you was that you ran and swam to much and to take 5 weeks off? Did they rehab you or give you stuff to do?

no, the military doctor gave me some celbrex, and said "no running, till you finish the bottle".

But i was doing squats, lunges, abducter/adducter strength training in it's place, along with more stretching. as in, an extra 20 seconds more, per position, than normal

Well I don't know if you've done it or seen it but if I were you I would do Guard MC's train up program. If you like your swimming and cal program just do the run section of the program. If you get the same problem or a similar problem building up with his program then something else is wrong and it's not just running and swimming too much.

You can find it here under Workouts:

went to the doctor today to come off DNIF (duties not including flying), and it was a different doctor. he was confused about the previous doctors notes, and he began asking me about the knee pains.

He determined it to be Pes Anserine Bursitis. Which, as FLA1786 said, is caused by inflexibility. He gave me a pamphlet on keeping it from coming back.

Remember to stretch folks!
