Hey all, I wanted to let you guys know of an awesome job opportunity that suits those aspiring to be PJ/CRO very well.
This job involves cross-training with the USCG Rescue Swimmers and the USSS Rescue Personnel. You engage in a mandatory 2 week training program that includes USLA advanced open
water training and a First Responder class taught at an advanced pace/level. You get phenomenal training for a really fun and also serious job that involves making open
water rescues out in the ocean and performing medical aid on the beach. Kitty Hawk Ocean Rescue is a division of the KH Fire Department and is the tip of the spear in ocean rescue agencies along the entire east coast. Kitty Hawk is located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and gets very powerful and strong surf. (Got especially strong this summer during Hurricane Bill!)
I have held this job for two seasons and I HIGHLY recommend that you guys aspiring among the same careerfield in PJ/CRO try this out (or with another advanced agency). It is perfect for those of you in college that will join the AF after graduation and are looking for a way to engage yourself during the summers. I know that the physical and medical training we receive and the ability to actively engage that on the job will help me become a better candidate for this career and hopefully a strong operator.
I wanted to share this job with you and hopefully some of you were looking for this very opportunity. Please feel free to ask any questions.
