I'd check out professionalsoldiers.com for a more in depth look at rucking advice. It's the Army SF equivilant to this site since their phase 1 selection is very inclusive of land nav skills and timed ruck marches to gain entry into their Q-Course (pipeline).

However my advice would be to focus on the 25m target ahead. Why train for rucking when we should be sport specific towards indoc/CCOC.

Did 3 on rolling hills in 20:34 last week, fastest time yet! Any suggestions on what kind of mileage and what pace is a good indicator of physical readiness for running at INDOC?

Six miles at 7:00/m is the goal that I shoot for.

Haven't posted on here in a while. My 4 mile is consistantly under 28:00 now....sticking around 27:45. Still ready to keep pushing up to 6 miles at a 7 minute pace and beyond though.

Havent timed my 4 mile.. I had my back broken back in November, so I wasn't allowed to run until yesterday when I had my yearly PT Eval. I must say I'm fairly impressed I ran a 9:55 after not having done a single workout of any sort in 3 months. (Not to mention it was FREEZING when I ran).
Although, my all-time fastest 2 mile was 11:37.
And all-time 1.5 mile time was 8:48.
Have never beat either of those, but I'm trying to get near them again before leaving for indoc next year.

Ran my first 4 mile run ever today and finished just shy of 28:00. I'm happy with it but it could be better, on track to complete 6 in 45:00.

Best one was 28:04. Measured with a pedometer and I kept the watch running while I waited on traffic. Wish there was a track around here that was open to public and not in the ghetto. All the HS's here only let students use the track and the ones that aren't gated are in gang turf.

Ran 4 miles last night around the back roads of the beaches in good ole' York, Maine. All hilly terrain, virtually every step was a hill whether up or down. Intended on running a relaxing comfortable pace and ended with 33 minutes, quicker than I expected. I've never ran a legitimate timed 4 mile but I guess I'll have to see what I can come up with on a track.

Running my first four miler on friday if I recall correctly. Did get my PR for the 1.5 today with 9:03. Really stoked on that.

Guard MC, your train up has given me a strong base to work from in all aspects of my physical development. So, thank you!

I'm actually finishing up the first week of the 12 weeks to BUD/S workout by LT. Stew Smith. Even though I lack access to a pool, for my purposes at the moment (being in college and living at the beach) surfing and a bit of ocean swimming will have to suffice as a replacement for pool swimming. But I digress.

Those of you who have a tough time finding a measured distance to run may want to try the USATF website and use the googlemaps application, http://www.usatf.org/routes/ Type in your zip code or select your state. Zoom in to see your areas and just make your own routes. I suggest using the hybrid function of map and satellite to get the best look at your route. Also comes with a handy elevation feature.

So, I ended up running at 27:56. I'll take it. I know I can drop that time significantly.
