I do agree with Yukon, and doing your job to the fullest even though you have every intention of trying to crosstrain. On that note, doing your homework to find which job will give you more time to train, in my opinion is a good idea. For instance 4B0X1, Bioenvironmental Engineering, does not deploy much, ex. MSgt in 17 years never deployed, along with everyone else in shop. Has Med group hours from ~7am to 430pm.

Deploying is almost always a good thing if you're looking to train. You're free of distractions and most people tend to devote their free time to the gym. Typically, it's not like you can hit up the local night club. I've seen some people come off of deployments with miraculous fitness gains. But, as soon as they get home (about ~3 months later), almost all the gains they've made are thrown out the window because of distractions. Your buddies want to go out hoggin' -- your girlfriend wants you to take her to the club -- family comes into town -- the list of distractions goes on.
You'll be stuck in whatever career field you choose for a few years... You'll have plenty of time to train no matter what AFSC you chose. Deployment rates are a non-factor, IMHO.
my .02... good luck.

If there is the desire, you'll make the best of what ever you are given. In no AFSC being a new guy will you be given time to do your own thing thinking you're special and intitled to special treatment because you have SOF ambitions. Your job is to upgrade in your courses and to learn your new job and how it fits into the greater good of the USAF with what ever you're given.
stay openminded, give your new AFSC 100% of you, and maintain cheerfulness in the face of adversity

And even though this is an old post and you are probably already reclassed, I would try to reclass into a job that either A. has something to do with the job I want (ie PJ=Med; CCT=ATC; EOD=AMMO) just some random off-the-top examples or B. Works with the job I want. like support. Just my suggestions

There is no feeder AFSCs for Pararescue and if CCT had one it would probably be Air Traffic Control or TACP.
There have been PJs who reclassified out of inflight refueling, airborne mission systems, intel, flight attendant, security Forces, etc. There are PJs who where SEALs, Army Special Forces before they became a PJ. There are PJs who have become SEALs, Army Special Forces, helicopter pilots, Physician Assistants, etc.
The bottomline is there is no rack and stack of better or worse AFSCs to try to retrain from and into PJ or CCT.
It's all matter of what and when the Air Force has a need to fill and how many people are trying for what is available.

The closest thing to a "PJ" job would be a 4N031.. they are medical technicians. And you would want to do the job you are re-classified in to the best of your ability because i am sure it would look good when you want to re-train back int pararescue. And you will always have time to train in any job you will have to make it yourself. I am up at six have to be in by 7 and get out at about 1715. I go to the pool lift weights and run after work. Tiring but something I have to do in hopes of returning myself. And if you get weekend off take that to your full advantage.
