A friend of mine lent me some jet fins, they are heavy and all rubber. I tried to find a comparison but it was unsuccessful. Is anyone on here able to compare the 2 fins? If I start practicing with jet Fins will it be detrimental for when I get Rockets of my own? Will it effect me at all? Thanks guys

Rockets are extremely heavy and all rubber too... its like finning with a cinder block attached to each foot. I have seen jets and Rockets and they are pretty much identical from what I have seen. It prob wouldent matter too much really

If you're going to indoc, you're gonna use jets. Might as well practice with what you will use.

I hear they use Rockets at phase II as well as indoc.

But during your CRO PFT at phase II you can use whatever fins you want, but that is the only opportunity you have to do so. I'm using the TYR Split Fin for the time trial, but of course the Rockets the rest of training.

Rockets are heavier in comparison, that's why they make you do flutter kicks with them on the side of the pool with a flooded mask.

EDIT: I just read that you can only use the same fins all of indoc, which would be the Rockets.

Confirmed with the Commandant, jet Fins are used at indoc. Having said that, they're hard to find, except on ebay...so Rockets are very similar in fit and weight and are a good substitute.

Commandant also says "tell them [wannabes] to fin harder"...so, fin harder.

Wrong forum first off, and way off topic. Second, you don't ship to indoc, you ship to BMT, then an indoc class after that that matches as closely as possible with your BMT grad date. Third, when I receive the Fiscal Year 2009 indoc dates, I'll post them...but it's still early.

Get some "dive booties" that fit your feet. You'll have to do underwaters with your booties, but don't fret.

Size Question:

My feet are 9.5s so that makes it a Large for jet Fins. But with dive boots on, would the large be too small? Should I order an XL jet Fins? Also, can I buy the cheapest boots I can find, or is there a specific type I should look for? Thanks.

You're right on the edge according to the sizing charts...I'd go with a large and try it...they have a size guarantee:

We'll arrange return of your item and bring you another size - without additional shipping costs. And at Leisure Pro, we'll keep going back to the cyber shelves until you are completely satisfied and perfectly comfortable. Our PFF Guarantee makes shopping for Suits, BCD’s, Fins and other dive gear simply easy. Go ahead and try it on with confidence.

Cheapest booties you can find are fine...just to keep your feet from going raw...I fin in old nike water moccasins.

I got jet fins and boots recently from leisure pro. I have a 10.5 US shoe, so I got size 10 boots from there as well, they fit fine. I have the XL jet fins. I feel a little bit of slop in my setup so I think you could get away with large. I also have a pair of medium jet fins and I can almost get a boot in them so I think you would be fine with large. If you order through the link at the top of the page, it will be from leisure pro, and they have a size guarantee to replace an order of the wrong size.

As far as boots, get the slimmest looking ones you see, with less sole, so they are more likely to fit well. I got BLRBZ10 from that site for 25 bucks, probably the cheapest there. They work fine.

When I used my mediums, I used these "seal skinz" water proof socks. But that was after I used them for a week barefoot sick

I just got a pair of U.S. Diver Rocket fins, unfortunately, one says 10, the other says 9. The measurements seems the same, but they need to cool down from shipping, and it might only be something I will feel in the pool. Anyways, does anyone know if I should be concerned about this? They do of course say one size fits all and they are the larges, but I wasn't sure if there is some distinction in that size chart other than supers and regular.
