Anyone in Aviano, Italy in search of someone to train with. I will be PCSing there and should be ready to start training in August after getting in-processed.

Posting early in hopes that by the time I get there, someone will have responded.

Here in Aviano, the area 2 gym has a "crossfit" section. Basically just has some kettlebells, medicine balls, boxes, and bars with ruber weights to do cleans. Just wish they had some rings and a set of pullup bars down there.

Still looking for a workout partner. I'll be starting swimming with a friend in the fire dept. here at the indoor pool off base soon. PM me if you'd like to join.

Bringing this back from the dead.

I've got a RNLTD of Nov30. I'll look y'all up when I get there.

How lax are the pools with doing underwaters or bound swimming? The Nellis pool isn't too excited about what they call "prolonged underwater competitions".

Sorry for the very late response.

The pool is outdoors, so you can't swim there during the winter, you'll have to use the Italian indoor pool. It gets very crowded and fin swimming is a complete bitch with 3+ people per narrow lane. Finning properly with the wide kick is also not really feasible. You'll have very slow people around you and really doing any sort of sustained distance swim is out of the question unless you can manage to work something out with your SQ and go there at about 6 am for your pt. I believe those months are from like May - Sep for on base pool and the rest of the months for the off base.

The on base pool is nice and I'd go swim right at 11 am on my lunch before it got crowded with the high school swim team and the other people that like to float around in your way. Never did any bound swimming but the lifeguards there are just college kids brought over on some program and they really don't seem to care. They never bugged me about under waters, mask/snorkel recoveries, or finning.

Unfortunately I'll be deployed by the time you get here. There is a nice little area with bumper weights in the Area 2 gym. I prefer that over the main base gym for crossfit style Workouts. It's downstairs in a little basement area.
