I was wondering starting at AST through the deployment years, what life is like for a CCT. I was told they get to return to their homebase after their deployment time for as long as the deployment was. Is this true? Also, during AST, are you able to see your family most days or would it be near impossible to have a healthy relationship with them? I know that CCTs are deployed a lot, actually I heard about half of the year, but is that in month spurts or is that one big deployment? My boyfriend is in the pipeline and is doing great, but I am wondering how feasible this truly is. I know there have been posts about it, but am looking for what life for the family of those deployed is like. Short deployments seems feasible. If any CCTs or Pararescuemen could respond, I would greatly appreciate it. If necessary and appropriate, an email would work as well. Thanks.

Trainees at AST have a busy schedule but are home most nights that they are not in the field. Expect them to be home most weekends and over half of the week nights, depending on the pahse they are in and the training schedule.
Once at their Home Station, CCTs are subject to Temporary Duty (TDY) and Deployments. TDYs are Training or Exercises, usually a week or two in duration, though sometimes longer. Deployments are when the Unit or members of the unit go to war or a contingency. Deployments last anywhere from a month to a year but generally are about 150 days right now. That is always subject to change.
You adapt. If you keep open and honest communication, it just becomes natural to be gone about half the time. After the Hubby's been home a while, you may start wanting him to get out of town for a week or two.
There have been a variety of posts on this subject. If you do a search, you will probably find quite a few.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate the help. If they are deployed between one month to a year, does that mean after the deployment they get to stay at their home base for that same amount of time afterwards before being deployed again?

Thanks again.

Yes, in principle that is true for DEPLOYMENTS, not for TDYs. Real world events may dictate otherwise and guys have a habit of volunteering even when they don't have to...
