I was an Officer in the AF doing public affairs. I took an early out last year because being a PAO was not what I really wanted. I'm looking to get back in, only enlisted. Has anyone ever done this or dealt with this type of situation? I'm 28 right now if that matters.

mlhogg,
The only people I know who have resigned their Commission to enlist all had to go ANG becuase Active Duty wouldn't allow that. Not sure how that works once you are out. I suggest you ask an Air Force Recruiter over the phone. They can look it up in appropriate AFIs.

Your AD time will be subtracted from your age so your age shouldn't be a factor. You'll be considered prior service.

Beyond that, MC is correct, get ahold of a recruiter...not sure of the rules if you're seperated as an officer but want to come back in enlisted.

Thanks guys. The guard is something I was looking into anyways. I was looking into the 125th, as that is my home area and where all my family is. It would be perfect for me, and from what I hear, those guys are top-notch.

Your herniated L5-S1 disc and surgery to correct the problem will cause the same needing a waiver for a medical disqualification for enlisting in the Air Guard as it does for enlisting in the Active Duty to become PJ or CCT.
