I will hopefully be testing for a CRO position soon with a reserve unit. However, I have a question/issue.

Last year I lost my job. I exhausted my savings account over an 8 month period to attempt to keep my house. I have since found a job, but it does not make enough to pay for the mortgage. I have since moved into a rental. I am trying to get a Deed-in-Lieu of Forclosure, but if this does not work, the home will be set up for a foreclosure sale.

The question: If the home is foreclosed on, will I be precluded from becoming a CRO?

Thank You

The question really comes down to your credit rating and credit history...one of the things checked during your security investigation...I don't know what a foreclosure would do to that information...you might want to research that.

I came into the AF with a foreclosure on my record and my credit score was in the 400's. I actually had my security clearance interview before I shipped off to BMT. With that said, I went to the interview with all of my pertinent information (letters, creditor contacts, etc.), a time line of the events leading up to foreclosure, and most importantly why it happened. Personally I'm convinced that the whole reason why I was granted my secret clearance was due to the way I presented myself. I hit a rough patch in life, but I was was working towards clearing it up.

I was told by my Unit Security manager that when I need to apply for TS clearance I should be good to go as long as I do the same thing that I did for my initial clearance, and bring proof that I have improved since then. Just my personal experience.
