thats a good possibility. I run my 5K in about 21:30 here in good ol'e san antone, i went to CO to visit my wife about 3 weeks ago and my time's decreased and it felt as if my joints hurt more. (going from 70 degree's to 20 may have played a role smile i worked on some sprints and slicing (taking 5 or more seconds of your time every 1/4 mile) while i was in CO and the day i got back to texas i did a 5 miler and kept my pace at about my 5K pace. so based on a recent personal experience you may be quicker here. dont rely on that to pass your pt test though, remember!!!! depending on when you go to indoc the temp and humidity here in TX will slow and humble the best, especially if your used to summers in CO....

Really old thread, but I can vouch that exercising at altitude definitely impacts your endurance. In swimming we used to be able to knock some time off our race times swum at a high altitude if we wanted to enter a meet that was swum at sea level. Also, I run at around a 7:45 pace at maybe 75% max heart rate here in San Antonio, and when I visited my parents in Laramie, WY (Alt ~7200 ft!) I was running at about an 8:20 pace at 90% my max HR!
