I know the evaluated runs are at 7 min mile pace. I was wondering what the pace is during regular runs throughout the day? I know they also run @ about 10 miles per day; is that all in one run or is it spread out through the day?

1. Doesn't matter how many miles a day--the runs start when they start and end when they end. Your job is to finish the run. Just work on passing the eval each week.
2. The mileage increases throughout the course, the pace varies.
3. You do different types of runs each day: steady paced, intervals, LSDs, recovery runs, ruck runs, fartleks, etc.

i noticed the run eval distances go up pretty quick at indoc.. which would seem fairly difficult to accomplish on your own at a track unless you can already meet the final eval pace/times. so do you do your eval runs as a group.. on a track?
curious as to the specifics... and wondering if it's a group endeavor on the evals to help everyone progress at such a fast pace.

You get broken up into groups after your first run. These are the groups you run in during the week. You do LSD, Sprints, Fartleks depending on the day. On eval days everyone is on the track depending on how many trainees there are you might be in groups, but you run at whatever pace you want, just make sure you run a 7 min mile or better.

Well about pace...I've been reading (and waiting to get my shot) on here for awhile. And you always see the same advice: "get to 3 miles in less than 21 and never quit and you should be fine." So besides that, if you break it down, keeping up with the pace isn't as bad as it sounds. Check it out:
If you go in at the recommended 3 miles in 21min than you have 4 weeks to hit 4 miles in under 28 (still a 7 min pace.) Everything after that is progressively over 7min.
Week 5 is 4.5 miles at a 7:06ish pace Week 6 is 5 miles at the same 7:06 pace (not that bad of an increase) Week 7 is probably the hardest at 5.5 miles with a 7:05 pace Week 8 is 6 miles at 7:30.
If you can pass the 10 mile LSD and the ruck runs than Week 8 will be easy compared to 6 and 7. It's doable. Kids straight out of highschool with no idea about Pararescue and the grad evals have done it, so if we go in at the recommended...we got it if we got the heart. Good luck dude.
Thanks for the info RJuck

thx for breaking it down, and the biggest challenge for me will be to max it out one day at a time and not psych myself out. i feel confident, and at least i love the water(for now).

Did they change the evals down at the indoc? When I went thru there was never an eval with a "7:05" pace. They were all 7 min miles until finals that were 7:30. Just curious...

I divided the times listed here by the respective mileage and got the above paces. http://www.specialtactics.com/ol-h.shtmlBout half way down or so. 7 or 7:05 don't matter me, just getting a Pass for the eval.
