Hey...I just got out of the recruiting office, and took one more step to joining the Air Force. I think I might actually have a no BS guy with me. I'm on Benning, and he's linking me up with a CCT assigned to the 75th, and then a PJ down in Warner Robins to get me everything I need to know. Sounds pretty good too me.

Two questions.

1)He told me that as a PJ you must spend five years in a conventional PJ unit, then you are eligible to transfer to a ST squadron. I thought it was two years from reading this site a looooooong time ago.

2) He also sounded shocked, but he said CCT's get a $60,000 re-up bonus? $60,000?

I'm going up to Macon to take the PAST and my physical during the first weekend in April. Man this is already an adrenaline rush.

Take it easy.

Not sure about the time requirements, but the $60,000 sounds about right. The current SRB for PJ/CCT is 5.0, one of the highest in the AF. But remember, the bonus is just that. Its only a "bonus", not a thing to focus on. Good Luck!

There are no CCT "assigned" to Ranger units...ST works with them, but are not assigned to them. There are no PJs assigned to Warner Robbins (sure it wasn't Moody?). As a PJ you are assigned by the needs of the Air Force and the Command of entitlement...the 5 years in a conventional unit is absolute BS (and there was never anything on this site about 2 years either)...the CCT and PJ reenlistment bonus is a 5 right now (5 times your base pay at time of reenlistment times amount of years you reenlist), but in 4 years there are no gurantees...I'm not sure how smart this guy is so I would be careful.

Incedently, have you ever seen anything on this site about PJs at (Warner?) Robbins? The "5 year" thing? No...I would take some info off this site and ask your recruiter some questions and compare his answers as to what I got here (assignments, PAS test requirements, etc.)...

I remember him saying I'd have to go to Macon to take the PAST, and that he would take me to Warner Robins for some other reason...but I know for sure he said there is a PJ at Warner Robins who would talk to me. Next time I go into the office I'll get the guys name.

TE,
I remember seeing on the site awhile ago a downloadable application for ST, I think that's where I got the two years thing. My fault.

The PJs at Moody are in Valdosta. Not sure why he would go to Macon...unless he is not qualified to give it, and the recruiter there is.

Yeah, that's right. The recruiter up in Macon is the one he answers too. The recruiter from up there was the one who gave him the info about the conventional unit, and the fallback plan and whatnot.
