1. I am 26 and have been investigating joining the Air Force (taking ASVAB in two weeks and would like to go basic training in July) and becoming a CCT. Considering my age and a desire to do field work, would it be advisable to go enlisted or go through officer training before going through the pipeline?

2. How does the Air Force look upon former drug use. What type of affect does it have on ones ability to get a security clearance?

I've knwn guys with other stuff... don't let anyone turn you away. If that's your dream then do it. If you get a firm "NO", then keep trying... realize it may hurt your chances, but don't jus forget about it until you know for sure.

Just be honest in your responses. For the most part I think so long as the drug use is in your past and so long as it did not result in any type of action involving the law enforcement, I don't see them raising too much concern over it. Good luck with trying to go CCT, just remember to never accept a No from someone who isn't even in the postion to you otherwise
