I start the pipeline in just two weeks and I Just wanted to confirm, I did some searches on the current forums and could not get the exact answer, but as a married CCT retrainee at Keesler do you live on base with the team in the dorms for the entire 14 weeks of the course or do you get to stay with your spouse during that time? I believe the answer to be you live on the base with the team, I just had a concerned wife who wanted clarification on this matter as to how acsessible I would be during ATC school, that is all, Anyone who could shed light on this answer, it would greatly appreciated...

....Not exactly sure. But I do know this. ATC is not a PCS. Family can move to the location, but at your own expense. As for living with your family, I would suggest to call the school house. They would be able to see you on evenings and weekends as well. Just set time aside to study.

You will stay in the dorms throughout the pipeline until you finish CCS. Family visitation can happen often on the weekends, but you most likely have a curfew (and early too) every night.

I would suggest sucking it up and keeping the time with family/wife at a minimum while you are actually at the courses.

AST is different.

Floridaboy,
Since you are already at Keesler, why don't you just call the CCT Instructors directly and ask them? It shouldn't be too hard to track down a number for them. If nothing else, the Base Operator should be able to get you a number for the ATC School and the school can forward you to the CCT Cadre.

That helps to clear up a lot of issues, especially what my wife can expect as I enter the pipeline. Thanks all for your help.

Your orders will be treated as tdy. So you'll have to pay out of pocket for housing. There's really no where to live on base due to katrina. All the CCT down there are on the second level of locker house (3M building), its doable just don't expect anything too nice. Immediately off base is a wreck. You're best bet is to make it through the seperation, you'll need the time to study, among other things. ATC alone (not cct) has a huge fail rate.

You will live in the locker house. And at CCS you have to stay in the dorms also.
