ROTC, AF Newbie

Hey everyone. I have two years left in school after this one and I'm considering entering into AF ROTC. I read up a bit and there are some exciting "fields" in AF that I'd like.
I know very little about the AF and was hoping you all could help me out in it as well as ROTC and the process of commissioning into a field.
The fields that seemed interesting to me are Intelligence, Special Investigator, Security Forces, Combat Control Officer, and Combat Rescue Officer.
First, what is the process of getting into your field of choice and how selective are each of the above fields? Please factor into your responses that I'm a Criminology and Political Science double major with about a 2.5 GPA, with very good physical fitness. If I train hard enough there is no doubt that I could ace the PFT.
What are the different fields that I listed like? I would love to become a CRO or CCO. Do I need a technical major and/or high GPA? What is the process? I'd love any of the above fields with SF probably being the least desirable.
Thank you for your responses in advance.

Davis, Most of the questions you asked are here on the site. There is a huge amount on info on this site, pertaining to CCT/PJ/STO/CRO. Before anyone gets mad, I would read the ROE's and do a little research. If you have any further questions, after your research, I am sure anyone on this forum would be glad to answer them. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

SOME of this info is on the site, but it is a very good question.
You can think of security forces as being two families married into one - law enforcement and security. Law enforcement is your basic cop (but restricted to base) and security is security. A SF Lieutenant may be in charge of as many as 150 men on your first day, however, it is tough to get. When I filled out my dream sheet (a little more than 4 years ago) SF wasn't even an option. Slots for ROTC officers are few and far between.
CCT and PJ are what you see on this site. Read the site! Nuff said...
OSI is investigations. Think police detective. You do drug busts, criminal investigations, etc. OSI got roughly 4 people from ROTC when I graduated. Basicly, you don't pick OSI, they pick you. There is some opportunity to crosstrain once you are in.
If you want to be a pilot or nav, this is a GREAT time to go for it. Lots of slots. I never knew a guy in my corps that didn't get a slot (of course I went to an engineering school - a tech degree IS important for ROTC).
If ground pounding is your idea of the military (as it is mine) I believe (personnal opinion) that you'd be MUCH happier/better served in the Army. The Army is the decisive force in war and is set up thusly. Many opportunities for field time.
The Air Force has less of a warrior culture. We promote technology/professionalism. This is not neccessarily a bad thing, but doesn't sound like what you are looking for. Write me if you want further guidance, and keep asking questions. Also, visit your local Army/Air Force ROTC units. Sit in on some of the training sessions. You'll get a definite feel for the differences and will know better where you belong.
Good luck!
