I'm currently a 1N071, working at Tinker AFB. I've applied/volunteered for the 24STS job at Pope, but I have yet to hear anything back. Does anyone know of ANY STS jobs out there for an Intel Puke?

Contact this guy []hopfaufr@jdi.army.mil[/] he is the guy that was helping me out with the same thing. Like TE said its not just AFPC's call on this one, you have to go for an interview and stuff. I wasnt able to due it because i already had an assignment. But they need 1N0's right now.

I've contacted Lt Hopfauf. I'm hoping that I have a fairly good shot at this assignment. Unfortunately, I can't get into the Combat Targeting Course (I work at AWACS) and I don't have prior AFSOC Intel experience. A good friend of mine went to the AFSOC IFTU and said that those are preferences, but not requirements. However, as TE said, they selectively man their positions, and as person with AFSOC/CTC experience would be considered before me. I'll just cross my fingers on this one. Thanks for your help though!

Jinn,
I applied for the vehicle mechanic slot with the 24 last year and just got word last week that I was approved but unable to PCS due to time on station requirments. The process is long and tedious as you have to submit an intitial package that they review and then they decide they want you to go for an interview. One thing I found is that more and more people applied for the job which prolonged there decision as they try and view as many people as possible to get the righth person. Mr. Hopfauf does a great job of answering any questions that you may have and gets straight to thee point. Hope this helps a little bit.

The 24th is always on the look for Intel guys. Having Target School underyour belt is a good thing to have but you can get by without it. Plus you can always get the shool out of the way enroute if selected. The selection process for the position can sometimes be a little long but well worth it. There is always a standing requirement and due to the mission rate a period of time can pass before you will get a response. I am a intel troop also and as you know depending on your assignment it can make or break your motivation sometimes. If you do get hired by the 24th be prepared to be extremly busy but it is well worth it. The contribution that you will make will be extremely rewarding.
