First CRO officer or first officer period (STO)? If it's the first CRO officer, I think I know it.

The 1st CRO to graduate from INDOC was 24 yo Robert Taylor. AF Academy grad who gave up a slot in the pilot training. He would have been a 3rd generation pilot. Taylor graduated INDOC in Sept. 2002 04-class. I think his claim to fame @ the academy was he was on the Soccer team.

Joe has the right idea. He did become a Combat Control Officer and last I heard was a STO.

This officer was a great leader to his teammates and one of the only "big" guys I ever saw make it through Indoc. By "big" I mean he was over 6 ft and over 200 lbs. All the rest of his class and mine were much shorter and a lot lighter. He was funny to watch PLF, man did he raise a cloud of dust!

I'm thinking all these pups forget themselves, there actually were officers BEFORE the STO and CRO career fields came along.

First officer I know of to graduate INDOC, which would have been called the OL-J at the time, was Capt "Doc" Silverton. Now an ortho specialist and still boy wonder. He can probably still do more pull-ups than anyone on the INDOC team in class today!

My apologizes PJ2PA, I should have been more specific with my question. I should have asked "Who was the first officer to graduate from the OL-H?" I graduated from the OL-H in the late 1980's. We were told by the Cadre, at the time that the officer I saw going through the course, that he was the first officer to attend and then graduate as the course was only open to enlisted personal prior to his arrival. I was not aware that during the OL-J timeframe that officers were allowed to attend. I have no doubt that the gentleman you speak of was the first to graduate from Indoc, so with that the question is answered.

Hello rdmagsby,
Since it's not that easy finding this information. I'm just wondering if I have the right answer for your question.
Lt Col Terrence Maki, Indoc class 87-01(Dec 87), He was
selected as the Kodak all American Middle Linebacker.
Thanks~ D.

My congratulations Flatfoot Lt Col(now)just plain LT Maki then was the officer I was asking about. Yes he was All American at the Academy(and I believe a co-captain) and yes he was in class 87-01. I was at the OLH as a casual and watched his class go through. He was quite a leader as a young LT and he impressed me very much back then. I believe his leadership helped his teammates greatly. There were some guys on his team I didn't think would make it,that did. The scuba tanks they wore during crossovers weighed almost as much as they did. To watch them run from the barracks to the pool with the tanks and weight belts on was something else. Outdoor pool during the winter in Texas, water temp 55 air temp 35. He really helped keep his team motivated. All classes should be as fortunate to have a team leader with as much class. Mine wasn't , our first team leader quit. We still graduated 11 out of 120. I don't know what is the customary prize for answering a question here on "stump the chump", so if TE or PJ2PA could let me know. I'll take care of you. Good Work and HOOYAH!
