I did a search on shoes, but didn't find much believe it or not... A few years ago the late, great MZ got me to switch to New Balance. I'm over 200lbs and he made me aware I need shoes designed for bigger guys (he was bigger than me). He swore by the 991s. I have used them and the 1220s and 1221s (replaced the 1220s). It's time to buy some new ones and I wanted to see what y'all recommend. I'm looking at the New Balance website and comparing the shoes is dizzying. I'm still leaning toward the 1221s again, but they are phasing out the 991s so they are on sale... Thoughts?? http://www.nbwebexpress.com/search_resul...;amp;s3=110805hhttp://www.nbwebexpress.com/newbalanceM1221SN.htmThanks, MS

I would check out roadrunnersports.com for reports on shoes, but ASICS might have a shoe for you. I am short for my weight as well and found that these have helped me tremendously when running longer (excess of 60 minutes). There was also a report in Men's Journal this month that advertised a website that reviews running shoes and endorses brands based on their performance for different body types. The Nike Shox TL's have been good for me, too, but they are over $150. Take it easy.

I also run in the 1221s and 991s. I just bought a new pair of 991s yesterday since they were on sale. Either one is a great shoe, but I'd save the cash and go with the 991.

I think everyone owes it to themselves to at least check out the new Air Max 360s - they have no foam in the midsole, so they will only wear out when the entire shoe breaks down. A bit pricey at $160, but worth it when you consider the extra life you get out of the shoe.

A trick I learned from runner friends. Go to the store. Try one type of shoe on the left foot and a different shoe on the right. Run 10-20 paces. Choose the better of the two. Keep doing this until you've found the best choice of all the shoes.

Hey all I know I'm posting toomuch but i thought this might be usefull. My aunt owns a shoe store in Michigan and she is very supportive of the military and president Bush. So I can get you asics as well as New Balance Run shoes cheaper than you can find them anywhere (cost price plus shipping) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />unless someone has the same connect. she also carries Merrel and I ruck every day with my gor tex Merrels and they feel great. There wouldn't be any obligation to keep them as long as you don't were them outside before returning them. I would just like to make some sort of contribution to the forum community. Only catch would be that you would have to be in or about to be in the service.
