I've read a few of the posts about Guard slots and most of the posts are talking about Active Guard when i would just want to be part time so i could attend college. I am currently a SSgt and was thinking about going Guard when my current active enlistment is up. Will i be able to sign up in the guard and crosstrain right into pararescue, or is there a waiting period like when you are active? Also if i have a line number while on active duty will this transfer over when i am in guard status?

Once you go guard I'm sure you'll be activated sooner than later. PJ is a "chronic critically manned" career field. Why don't you get all your schooling done while active while tuition is 100%. The right person to talk to is Guard MC, you may wanna give him a PM, he has some knowledge!

Line number will not transfer in as the Guard has a different promotion process for it's enlisted force. Getting another stripe while in training is a local policy, I personnely discouraged the commander from promoting guys until after they finished all their schools, but that's just my opinion
