I've just started getting back into running alot lately and I've noticed an odd problem. Usually when I run more than 3 miles, my balls begin to get sore and ache. It goes away soon after I finish, and only happens when I run. Its not a terrible pain or even enough to stop me from running, but it is quite an annoyance. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no doctor (my dad is, though) but when I was researching and asking around about the final parts of my DoDMERB physical I found out that I needed to be seen by a urologist to check for varicocele, or an enlarged vein most commonly present on the left testicle (been described as a bag of worms or spaghetti in your scrotum). When I heard about this I kind of freaked out but quickly read that its not too harmful (just that you might be firing blanks from your left nut). Anyways one of the common symptoms of this is slight pain in the testicles after working out.

Check out WedMD or just google varicocele (I think thats how its spelled).

This is only what I've read and heard from my father so my information may not be completely accurate. Regardless, I hope you and the little general fare well.

Do your running shorts have a liner? Bosco's right, man. Secure the scrote, and it might help.

If the problem continues consider an athletic supporter. Keeps everything in place <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
