Hi guys, Im new to this site although i have read (what i beleive to be the entire site or at least what i was interested in) but anyways, i was wondering, I am a junior in high school, i originally wanted to be a pilot for te air force, but i have lately been interested in Pararescue. I have found a lot of information on what Pararescue is. I have not been able to find out much information on how to get in, maybe its becasue you guys use so many abbreviations that i can't understand it such as 18X and so on and so forth. Please let me know any information on how to go about getting in, I am on the swim team and am very fit, i am 6'0" 162 lb. I tend to think that almost anyone can get through the training depending on their determination (i am not saying that the physical part is not hard) I am saying that anyone that is determined enough will find the strength, please any information to help me would be great. what exactly are the selection procedures to who gets in to the training during boot camp?

You need to talk with a recruiter and he can help you go through the necessary steps. Its possible that you can go to Basic already knowing that PJ is in your path. You need to pass the PAST then take it from there. I am currently at the step to taking my PAST in about a week. Good Luck!

Everything you need to prep yourself is in this site somewhere. Prepare yourself above the standards you find in this site. Then, when you know your ready for the PAST and (very important) you have decided to COMMIT to this for the next 4 to however many years you want to serve, then go to a recruiter. With the right amount of knowledge, you should be able to get what YOU want out of the recruiter and not the other way around.

Not all recruiters are bad. In fact, few are. If you go in there its all up to you. Get yourself involved and ask all the questions. There are no stupid questions when it comes to your future. Tell the recruiter you want a guranteed job as a PJ and he WILL start that up. You cannot take the PAST until AFTER MEPS. You cant book a PJ/CCT job until you are cleared physically. You will get scheduled into another job first, then get cleared at MEPS, then you can take the PAST, then you can book you PJ/CCT job. Clear.

All this IS in the forums. Read up.

KnightSean,
There are plenty of good recruiter's out there but you have to be informed and this site will have the info you are looking for. I took the PAST first with my recruiter and upon passing we begin the rest of the steps. Test yourself prior to the actual PAST and see how you do if Pararescue is what you want. Next I took the ASVAB. With good scores I proceeded to the medical, although if you aren't satisfied or qualified up to this point you can re-evaluate and come back sometime down the road. Depending on your medical history this can be completed that morning or if you have to get follow-up work it could be drawn out to several weeks. If you pass the physical with 1's in every category then you can sign up for the GTEP for Pararescue and be placed in delayed enlistment until you can secure yourself a training class and spot. It only took me about 3 weeks from taking the PAST to having my papers but it will depend on how many people your recruiter is juggling and their schedules. Most wannabe's on this sight only want pararescue so by qualifying as GTEP you protect your interests. If you are willing to do something else in the AF if you don't make it for whatever reason then they can accomodate you. If you won't settle for anything else then don't consider any other possibilities without being GTEP by passing the physical and the PAST. Of course that's just getting a ticket to indoc. the rest is up to you.

I sent you a PM. If you are really serious about this job, I know of a few recruiters in the Orange County area that can be helpful, that helped me get in.
