Hi everyone,
I have a loved one in the 319th squadron in Lackland AFB waiting for medical discharge. Does anyone have any information on that place? He was able to make one phone called and sounded very very distressed (worst than his first phone call home). Does anyone know how long the process may take to get him home??? Any information is appreciated! Thanks!!!

oooopps The 319th squadron is a holding squadron for individuals who will either heal, or be discharged for medical/administrative reasons. Depending on his condition (you didn't specify what was going on with him) will depend on how long it may take for him to be discharged. He will undergo exams to determine if the condition was caused by boot camp or if it was pre-existing. Depending on how long he has been there, he may still have the "zero-week" jitters. Don't worry though, they aren't beating him. He actually, most likely, has got it easier than his previous squadron (less inspections, a little more free time, etc.) unless things have changed recently. He is probably just distressed about the situation more than anything. It could take less than a week or as much as several weeks. The military fluctuates on promptness from time to time. He should get home to you in one piece, though. Best regards-

Crazie 1, thanks for the info. I dont know what condition he has. The past two phone calls I was able to get he didnt have time to tell me. But he did say something about crazy people being there. So that got me all worried. I read some online journals of people who has stayed at the 319th squadron and several commented on it being a scary place and "dont ever go there" @__@. I am stressed because I cant do anything to help him or get him home. Anyone got more information out there?

He didnt tell you what's wrong?? He may just have a bad flu or pneumonia. I've had plenty of friends who did a stint there until they were better. If you PM me with specifics (I work in the hospital), I can probably give you more info.

hey Crazie 1 the 319 is as was said above a holding squadren for the sick and theous that are getting out. i personally spent over 8 weeks in hold before returning to a normal or "street" flight and finishing baisc. there are no i say agian no truely "crazy" people in the 319 but alot of people do end up getting deppressed and hating life while they are in the 319. but the is a light at the end of the tunel if your son is if fact being discharged for medical reasonsthe process will most likely only take a few day maybe a couple of weeks but if the air force decides that he will get better and be able to serve in the air force after he recovers he will most likly be in the 319 until he has recovered for is medical problem. tell him when you talk to him that he should keep his head up and remember that even when it sucks to remember he has friends and family support back home and to think of the reasons that he joined
