Hi,

I am Jpeters' girlfriend (I created an account here but it wont let me in so I'm posting under his) ~ My boyfriend left for Basic training last week and I am wondering when they get to sent letters home. I've already sent him two letters but I'm worried that the TIs will hold on to them and not give it to them for a while so they will stay focused and not think about families. I really miss him and wish I could hear from him. Anyone know when the Air Force recruits get to write once they arrive to Lackland?
Thanks!

I'ts been about 7 yrs since I went to basic, but it was about a week I think before I received my first letter(s). We were only able to write letters pretty much just right before lights out and I think they started collecting mail to be sent out after the first or second day. Any other experiences out there? I'm not remembering as well as I thought I would.

Thanks for the response! After I posted my question here I received a letter from him that afternoon. Feel much better now.
