Does anyone know if there is any truth to the rumors that 53's may come to Portland OR?

Haven't heard that one. The Air Force doesn't have a whole lot of 53s to spare. They would have to take existing 53s from existing units to send them to Portland. This seems unlikely since AFSOC is overstessed as it is and does not want a larger Guard/Reserve component than it has, at least not at the expense of taking assets from Active Duty units. I don't know of any Guard or Reserve units that are slotted to give their helos up to another Guard or Reserve unit, either.
When the new Rescue Helo is finally decided on and comes into service, 53s or some other platform could then become available for Portland and other Guard/Reserve units.
