I plan on moving to Kirtland when my boyfriend PCS there during the pipeline and was wondering if anyone knows if the housing units come furnished. Thanks!

Kristy, If you two are not going to be married and he is SrA and below, he will be in the dorms with the rest of his team. Married students are given base housing, which doesn't have furnishings, although you can get stuff for your home from the Airman's Attic and through the base paper for cheap. I have been here for over a year and seen both sides, married and now single and I would be more than happy to help in any way possible. Good luck.

Hopefully, we will be married by then. From what he's been told in briefings, he has 2 days somewhere between the end of INDOC and PCS to come home and report to his home base (Patrick AFB) or something to that effect. Hopefully then we can get a marriage license/certificate. (Ceremony will come after he finishes. Lord knows he doesn't need to be thinking about a wedding through all of this!)
We have furniture but it's going to be a pain towing it from FL so that's why I asked if they came furnished. Thank you for the help BB!

The military will move your stuff for you as a part of the PCS, so don't worry about towing anything out here. Plus, they will pay you for driving your POV.

Excellent!! Now my boyfriend can stop bugging me to get the $35,000 truck that HE wants. His excuse was "but we'll need it to move". <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

When it starts getting closer to PCS time, shoot me a PM and I will make sure you and your husband have all the names and numbers you need for when you arrive. If you need help getting settled and finding the things you are used to from back home, my girlfriend said she has no problem volunteering to show you around.

There is also very basic items provided by Family Support. You can get kitchen, and bedding supplies along with a few other supplies through them.

Thank you very much! I hope everybody there is as nice as you. From what I've noticed, and been told by my boyfriend, it's like the military is it's own little (or big, I should say) family. I can't wait! First and foremost though, he has to make it through INDOC! He will.

He is the only person that can confirm his success or defeat at Indoc. I am pulling for him. If you haven't been around many military folks, you will come to find that the values and practices are still about thirty years behind the rest of the world. We still acknowledge each other, say please and thank you, open doors, pull out chairs, and give the elderly the right of way. It's like living in the best place on earth inside the best nation on earth. I am sure you will find all the other spouses and guys who will be on team with your husband to be very nice and kind people.
All I have in each state I am stationed are the people who live around me and the people I work with. That's what builds the family atmosphere. I really hope you enjoy it. Don't forget to shoot me a PM if you two need anything.
