Naked Warrior Regimen: Preparing for the pistol

Well I just found out that the shipping for Tsatsouline's book might take 14 days, and I'm way too eager to start. But the thing is, my legs aren't really the best legs out there, so if there's anyone who can recommend certain tension exercises that would prepare me for the pistol (preferrably bodyweight only), it would be much appreciated. Thanks to everyone who's helped me out so far.

I tried analyzing my weaknesses and all that. Balance is decent. Coordination is decent. Focus is fine. Flexibility and strength both suck. Mainly flexibility, but even with a two legged squat, it's hard to keep my shins straight. When Pavel teaches the Pistol, does he also instruct you to use doorways and all that? Or is his approach different?

Okay, this morning, I just practiced a two legged squat, and held it 4 times for 25 seconds each when my thighs were parallel to the floor. I worked a lot last night on making sure my shins stay as straight as possible. The pistol is too fast and too furious for someone who's barely worked their legs, but something's better than nothing, right? Or should I up the intensity (e.g. hold a 20lb weight behind me)? And is there any other way to stretch my leg much more rigorously (flexibility issue)?

Okay...perhaps I should be asking this, but it is perhaps the question I feel most stupid asking. Does the Naked Warrior have a thorough buildup plan to the pistol exercise, OR must I build up to the Evil Russian's buildup to the pistol? That's how bad it might be. ^_^

Try not to kill yourself by over analyzing it. Just get out there and keep doing them and over time you will get it right. Start with the doorframe if thats what you need to do and go from there. They're tough to learn, just keep with it.
