I've been reading through this site for a couple of days now, I've even browsed through all 37 pages of CCT's forum. What I have to ask is personal, vauge, and completly subject to opinion. I know this type of question is frowned on, but I really am interested in input by those who have been up the crick and over the mountain.

The more I read on Combat Controlers, the more I bolth respect those who perform the task, and the more I relish the idea of one day, possibly, counting myself in that number. Currently I'm not in the shape I should be, but I'm doing my best to get there. I'm just wondering at what point I should take the PAST test. Would I do better to take it as soon as I can pass, or condition my body for another six months? I'm afraid that if I put off trying for too long, circumstances will hinder and dreams will fade. At the same time, I don't want to decrease my chances of passing the physicial rigors required.

Like I said, vauge and personal. Sorry if I've overstepped the line here TE.

I understand what you are going through. I have to wait for 2 and 1/2 years before I can crosstrain. It is completely up to you. Don't let someone else make the decision for you. I am just using my 2 years to train my body and my mind. If you have to question whether you are ready or not then you probably aren't. You have to know for certain that you are ready to meet the challenge. Hopefully that helps you.

Wait till you are ready to go. Recruiters have no control over orders. If you barely pass the PAST and get signed up thinking you'll have time to train you may be wrong. Once you get approved you may be waiting 4 days to a year before a slot opens. There will be no warning. ALSO, they are going to put the hurt on you here. You are going to NEED some form of motivation to stay here and endure the suck. You have to have the desire to stay no matter what they do. Build that motivation while you are a civilian. You need something inside you to answer the question "why the hell am I here? Why am I doing this? Do I belong here?" Train hard/smart, and bring your attitude!

Hey man. I was in the same boat last October. I wanted to go PJ so bad (I know this is the CCT forum LOL) but I was worried about passing the PAST. So my recruiter and I set up a PAST Test date of six weeks from that time. Well lo and behold about 2 weeks later he told me I was doing it 2 days from then. Well, I felt completley unprepared and was freaking out. So the day came and I passed with ease!

I think as long as you are not going to injure yourself then you should give it a try. Remember that you can take it more than once!

Not only did you change the subject and post in the wrong forum, but the question has already been answered a 1000 times.

Topic closed due to stupidity.
