Those of us that are TACP have to take the Army pt test and now it looks like we have to take the Air Force one as well. I was wondering if you guys have to take the Air Force PT test like the regular Airmen, even though you have higher standards.

Strive to max the Army PT test and you won't have to worry about passing the AF PT test.

Last I knew the PT test was still required because you are still a member in the AF. I'm sure if you do a search you can find the answer <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Word is that if you can pass the AF PT test with above a 90, you'd pass the Army test fairly easy. In fact, the only real difference between the two is that the Army runs a half mile more. The AF test has a waist circumfrence test and half the time to complete pushups and situps. I personally think that the two tests are really well-matched.

Hooah Air Force.

The Air Force max is near the Army minimum. You would barely pass the Army PT test ( 70% ) if you did the maximum on the AF PT test.

How do you figure?

Looking at the run (17-21 age group for Army, under 25 for AF) the Army time for 100 (max) points is 13:00 (6:30 mile), the AF time for 50 (max) points for the 1.5 mile is 9:36 (a 6:24 mile)...a harder requirement...

Push-ups, same age group:
Army: 71 reps in 2 minutes = max points
AF: 62 reps in 1 minute = max points

Sit-ups same age group:
Army 78 = 100 points (2 minutes)
AF (crunches) 55 in one minute = 100 points

Take my age group (40ish) for the run:
Army: 13:36 for max points (6:48 mile)
AF: 9:48 (1.5 mile) for max points (6:32 mile)

Am I missing something?

As I stated in my first post, if he strives to max the Army PT test, maxing the AF PT test will be a sure thing. And if he only works towards achieving the max on the AF PT test, he will score in the low 80% on the Army APFT.

i think some of you are missing the point of bda's post...
as another tacp, i think what he's getting at is the redundance of an army and an air force test. and was just wondering if sts folks also had to take the af test too on top of their own requirements. i'd bet he's not striving to pass the army pt test. anyway, just thought i'd throw it in.

Good point jl, yes, ST has to take the AF PT test, along with their regular PT test...
