Okay I have a question and I hope that this is not rude or disrespectufull because that is not the idea at all. The intent of this is actually the opposite. Okay. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what decortaions PJ Cunningham had. The reason I asked this is because I am making a shadow box for a buddy of mine who is getting married. He was a TACP and had been through a majority of the PJ pipeline before decided to get married and get out of the Air Force to maybe puruse PJ as guard or reserve option. I want to give this shadowbox to him for a wedding present. I am in OEF right now for the third time and I have flown the flag here and plan on flying it on the 4th at half mast. Becoming a PJ and the PJ career field in general is a huge part of who my buddy is even though he hasn't made it yet, and I want to give this to him because I know how much he would appreciate it. I mean this as a tribute to Cunningham and I am in no way trying to be disrespectful or rude or out of line. If this request or this gesture is inappropiate and I have looked over something than I apologize. But if there is someone who could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. And if what I have just suggested or am about to do is wrong and if there are some people who object for personal reasons then I won't go through with this. I know that my buddy would appreciate this and feel honored if he got it for a wedding present though. Once again I mean no disrespect to Cunningham or the PJ career field, and thanks for the help if its available

That is out of line and inappropriate. A shadow box is usually given at retirement and contains the INDIVIDUAL's decorations, qualifications, etc. that he/she earned...not someone elses! The fact that he went through the majority of the pipeline means nothing...he is not a PJ...and ANY PJ out there would consider this inappropriate for a fellow PJ, let alone someone else.

Don't do it.

Wedding presents are supposed to be about the couple united in matrimony. I would suggest you look for a present that unites the two, not just one that will be liked for by your friend. Just my two pesos worth.

A VERY BAD IDEA!!!! If your friend has any Honor or Integrity he MOST DEFINATELY will NOT appreciate it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Alright.

I expected this might happen. This is why I asked before I went ahead with this. Like I said in my initial post, I would not go through with it if this pissed/offended people. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the career field and I meant nothing wrong or bad by it. I was up on the same hill gettin shot at about a week later and I have lost teammates as well so I understand. I was hesitant to ask the question in the first place because I honestly wasn't sure, and obviously for very good reasons. I truly meant this in a good way and my blunder was made with only good intentions. I apologize to everyone I have offended now or later when they read over this posting. Thanks to everyone for setting me straight.
