I have been using it and can tell a big difference in my endurance, My legs wear out way before my lungs do when running. Or any other exercise, for that matter. What I'm wondering is if I will lose all of this when I come off of it? I would like to keep using it during the pipeline, but don't want to stand out from those who use nothing. I prefer not to draw too much attention to myself, especially there! Any advice?

Frankly, you're an idiot for using it...it won't be allowed during the pipeline, and you're bucking the very basic military mantra of "train like you fight"...get rid of it now...it may help in the short term...but down the road...short road and long road, it will not even be viable to use...don't sell yourself short...do it the old fashion way and train like you fight.

Idiot for using it? Is it dangerous? How is it different from other supplements? I mean, I know it works differently, but is it not safe?

MSgt,
I think he's talking about a supplement called NO2, not the gas (at least I hope so).

Regardless, unless you're taking supplements with names like testosterone, trenbolone, insulin or EPO, most of the results you'll see are placebo (and no, I'm not advocating the use of any of the above).

Sure, every 18 year old walking hormone here has taken legal super supplement X and added a whopping 10 lbs to XYZ lift or shaved 10 seconds off of his run time will swear by it and say it made him better, but it didn't. The best performance enhancers are illegal. Work hard, get a lot of sleep, eat healthy (and lots of protein) and save your cash for something worthwhile.

What TE is saying is you need to be working out to build your bodies natural peak. While I doubt no2 is "bad" for you it can give you a false sense of your true abilities. Thinking you're better then you are and hurting you worse when you get to indoc and can't use any supplements.

Yes, I was talking about the supplement. I was under the impression supplements were allowed at indoc, but I hadn't planned on using any there, I was just wondering if it would help in the preparation. You guys are right, though. Do it naturally with no supplements and there will be no doubt as to your true abilities. Thanks for the advice, guys. This site is great!

Thanks Guru...although I now know what NO2 is (regarding a supplement), as you intimated, my original stand...stands...don't use something that is not or will not be readily available during training or at your deployed locations...

jwb72...some supplements are allowed at indoc, but you'd be wise (as you seem to realize) to do it naturally. If you're taking a supplement now, and have to stop during indoc, it could have adverse effects (i.e. your body reacting to going OFF the supplement)...best to train hard, with the only supplement being a good vitamin.

TE is correct. I have a rather lengthy book on NO2 and it definately falls into the highly questionable category. I do have the refrence material with me so I will not get into physiology, but I assure you that you will not have it at Indoc or on the front line. You better develope what you born with first.

Consider this tidbit of Soviet thought. When asked about steroids, doping, and other suppliments for means of performance enhancement, a top Soviet coach replied, "99% of the athletes are not good enough to use such things". Eventually all the supplements in the world won't help you if you don't have the foundation built. Focus comrade! Keep it simple and remember, what makes a man elite is being better than average at the basics.

I stopped using supplements 5 months ago(Cell-tech and Protien whey) the first couple months I noticed an immediate drop in recoverey and and energy. I stuck with it and am now back making small gains on both running and my KB work out, I think in another month or 2 I will be in better physical shape then I was in with supplements . I highly suggest dumping the supplements and as TE says train as you fight. It's not like in some third world ditch your going to find a local GNC's and who wants to carry the store with them

A side note : any one know where I can get a giant hamster wheel It looks more fun then the treadmill maybe dragondoor could come up with something.

Now that I really thought about it, I think I'll drop the supplements, too. I wouldn't want to carry all that stuff, either. Plus I think there would be more satisfaction and self confidence knowing I did it without a "crutch". I guess I was focusing more on the short term effects than the more important long term goals. Thanks for the advice!

I entered the AF (way to many years ago) at 18 y/o, 5'9" & 120 lbs. By the time I left Keesler (6 months later) using no supplements (just the daily CCT workout) I was 178 lbs.

I tried that NO2 stuff as well as Cell-Tech. At first they seem to work a little. But past the week mark they did absolutely nothing. Waste of money and time; I'd rather just take a multi-vitamin and some form of protein.

Guys at work make fun of me for the pills I take--multi-vitamin, multi-mineral, joint stuff, vit c, vit e--saying how I'm not getting any bigger, but it's funny, they get sick all the time, I hardly ever do.

What's the deal with NRS-1 being endorsed on this website?

The following is copied straight from the STO application package. "Also, if you take supplements (highly discouraged), ensure you taper well before coming to Phase II."

I'm curious about this as well. Nothing against the guy by any means. I'm just curious why there's a lot of flak against supplements here, yet BN seems to get a lot of hype at the same time.

I used it. Good stuff, I have to agree that you definitely shouldn't use this stuff if you can't use it in training or deployment. Myself (not an operator) and an operator I know both experienced a drop in strength when we stopped using it.

Well why don't you PM me and we can talk or call. No other company has ever served in the military, I have. I know what the soldier or any one else who goes down range needs to keep going. BN has a new product coming out that has sparked interest by some units that can't be named on this or any other site.

As for NO2, it is a waste of money. It does not work and there is no research that states other wise. These pre-work out drinks with NO2 also has about 300-400mg of caffeine in each serving.

Ah, well that's a good reason then.

Is there anything on the market that does what NO2 claims to do?

Something I am told from good sources is citrulline malate and carnosine. Make sure to use at least 2g of citrulline malate and around 500mg-1000mg of carnosine. Most of your supplement companies will put enough citrulline in their products just so they can say it is in there. In fact it is expensive to use in the aforementioned amount.

"Regardless, unless you're taking supplements with names like testosterone, trenbolone, insulin or EPO, most of the results you'll see are placebo (and no, I'm not advocating the use of any of the above)."

what about this: http://www.nutriline.org/article/95 ? i've never taken any supplements, but i wonder if it's any good?

another product that interests me is Resveratrol. I even read an article in journal cell about how it increased vo2max gradually in mice(though they were given really large doses). but i asked a few people that take it and they say it has no effect on them and fits the defn of placebo. obviously if it werent a placebo, there would be some studies done on human athletes by now.
