Are the rucks used LC2's with the frames or just the soft ruck? What kind of weight and distance did some of you guys start with, and did you ever use any exceptionally high weight or running with the ruck to condition yourselves

A-bomb,
The ALCE Pack with fram is standard. I would start by placing a 30lb sand bag wrapped with Duck Tape (so the sand stays in and water stays out)ub an ALCE pack and move up by 10 lbs every couple of weeks until you hit 60 or 70lbs. Begin with a three or four mile distance and work up to six or eight miles. Try staying on trails or grass instead of roads to limit the shock to your shins and to get a better feel for what rucking is all about.
Real world ops usually involve heavier loads but there isn't much to be gained once you hit 60-70lbs. After that it ALL just sucks and you drive on.

Additionally, although some guys sometimes run with a rucksack, I highly advise against it...it is hell on the back and knees, you gain very little by running, and significantly increase the possibility of injury...as Guard MC says, start slow and build up...ruck/hike don't run.
