What if I get chest pains after awhile of running? Over time and constantly working on my running can I work off the chest pains? Will they go away with conditioning?

Could be a few things. Muscle pains or cardiac. Might want to get that checked by a provider. I had costocondritis, irritation of mucles around the ribs, and it felt like I was going to die! Mine got better with a bit of motrin, rest and, yup, more conditioning! Good luck and make sure it is not your heart!

I'm sure your going to get a lot of different answers, but I used to have a similar problem and it went away with proper pre-exercise stretching. A few key stretches keep it from happening and I havent had the same pain since.

Good Luck

Thanks a ton guys! I'll try to do some more time with stretching. Also I'll talk with my dad about going to the base and getting it checked on. It better not be my heart!!! Cause my heart is going to be a CCT operator's heart or die trying!!

I would say you already have a CCT heart if you are willing to "die trying". Now you just have to keep that thought in mind and learn to endure.
"Enduring the unendurable is the true test of endurance."
I have been an ACLS instructor and Paramedic/RN along time. I have never seen anyone under 35 years old who wasnt using drugs regularly die from heart problems, excluding blunt trauma MVAs and high velocity projectiles entering the pericardium (usually those were stoned too).
When my BMT class was trying to do its first 3 mile run we had people dropping like flys complaining about chest and abdomen pain. The instructor would double back and stand over him screaming,"get up girl, your chest hurts? so what my chest hurts too, everybodies chest hurts."
I never saw anyone lay down after that.
Its most likely muscle pain which will improve with a realistics progressive training program.
And as a added bonus "dont worry it will stop hurting after the pain goes away."

For the sake of not starting a new thread and taking up even more server space, and the fact that I was pretty much in pain when I woke up this morning I decided to post this here.

Thanks guys for your help, advice, and encouragement in helping me run. I used to be a sprinter in track, and couldn't run longer than a mile to save my life but last night....

I did 8 miles in 1hour 1minute 45seconds

I was thinking about going for 10 but the treadmills have an automatic feature that turns onto cool down mode after an hour, and I lost my rythmm in turning it off and back on.

So again, THANKS! If only I could swim faster than the senior citizens at the pool.... 03 or 04 here I come!
