For the past 3 Saturdays I have been going in to my local 24hr. Fitness and running for about 50 miutes in their hypoxic chamber. It is a clear plastic room just large enough for a treadmil and has a climate control system that removes half the oxygen from the air within. Don't know if any other 24hr. Fitness's have these, but if you can somehow gain access to one you might want to consider using it because it is doing wonders for my mile pace.

Probably, though I must shamefully confess that I have not been working out lately in the pool (school is very demanding at this point). Hypoxic training helps to increase the concentration of red cells in your blood and also stimulates muscles to produce more mitocondria. All of that amounts to an increase in the body's ability to process oxygen (maxVo2), so it should have a positive affect on underwaters.
