I have searched the site for "OTS"+"CRO" with no joy, and have read most everything with "CRO." I am about to walk into the Officer Selection Rep's office and want to have my ducks in a row.
As far as officer programs, I am only interested in CRO, and would like to know what careerfield I am to sign-up for? I realize that I cannot apply for CRO Phase I, until/if I receive a commission. Is there a "general duty" officer billet? Should I simply sign for a billet that is not in demand; if so, which?
I realize that I may not be selected and that I should have a back-up plan. I figure that I will "burn that bridge when I come to it."
Thanks in advance.

I fully understand that I will be an "officer first," if I complete OTS. I am not trying to come-off like a pre-madonna(sp?). I simply seek information.
There are many officer careers that I can think of that seem awesome. My focus is CRO, while I understand I may not be selected or complete training, I can't let that change my focus. If I do not get selected or fail to complete training, I will be the best "fill-in AFSC" officer that I can be.
After serving just under 10 years as an enlisted sailor, I fully appreciate the responsibility/accountability that officers carry for their mission, men, and material.
Once again, not trying to stir-up a hornet's nest. Thanks to all for their input.

You can not attend selection as a civilian. The only way to go to OTS as a CRO is to attend selection first. So if you are seperated from the service, you are out of luck. All of this is in this downloadable selection package. If you desire to become an STO, than the 13M Airfield Operations is the best choice. There are about 65 of those commissioned a year. The 13M has the same functional manager as CRO and STO. This makes a release into CRO or STO easier. That doesn't mean you go to OTS and immeadietly attend selection, you will need to do some time in that career field first. Another route is to choose a job that is overmanned. www.randolph.afpc.af.mil should have information somewhere on it. Although you do write job choices down, you are not guaranteed any of your choices. Rated career fields (pilots, navs and Air Weapons Controllers) are impossible to be released from. Good Luck. Ski
